Cohen at Topping Out

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA-Charles Cohen, president/CEO of New York City-based Cohen Brothers Realty Corp., has reserved a 15,000-square-foot penthouse at his new 400,000 Red Building for his West Coast real estate and media operations. Cohen recently marked the topping out of the Red Building, which is the third and final building at the Pacific Design Center, in a ceremony with architect Cesar Pelli and other members of the development and design team.

Cohen is moving his L.A. headquarters to the Red Building from its former location in PDC’s blue building, known as the Blue Whale. The penthouse will be home to the development, management, leasing and marketing offices for PDC, and for West Coast operations of Cohen’s media and film production company, Cohen Media Group.

The West Tower of the Red Building is slated to be ready for occupancy by the third quarter of 2011. The leasing team for the building is led by Cushman & Wakefield vice chairman Eric Olofson and Bruce Mosler, chairman of global brokerage and former CEO of Cushman & Wakefield.

Designed by Pelli, the Red Building follows PDC’s first two, blue and green buildings. Cohen acquired PDC in 1999, and turned around the lagging leasing of the green and blue buildings by adding creative studios and office spaces, restaurants by Wolfgang Puck, and improved, tenant-focused amenities and services.
