Bill Kiefer of the Ventura County office of Encino, CA-based NAI Capital, who represented the buyer along with Tim Foutz of the NAI Encino office, noted that the original occupant of the property, Special Devices Incorporated's Defense & Aerospace Group, was acquired by Ensign-Bickford in March of last year. Seller WP Carey was represented by Nick Gregg and Sterling Champ of CB Richard Ellis.
EBA&D provides systems for missiles, space launch vehicles and ground vehicles. Terms of its acquisition of the property were not disclosed.
Ensign-Bickford reached an agreement to acquire the Moorpark facility last year, according to an announcement on the Connecticut company’s web site, which noted that the property formerly was the headquarters and manufacturing location of Special Devices Inc. EBA&D said that the purchase of the Moorpark facility directly supported its long-term growth strategy and its growing employee base in California. The company is a prime contractor to US and foreign military customers, and subcontractor to many US primes. It provides mission critical subsystems and systems for missiles and launch vehicles, satellites and other military uses.
