NEW YORK CITY-Mitchell E. Rudin, president and CEO of the New York tri-state region at CB Richard Ellis, will leave the company and head to Brookfield Office Properties. Rudin will serve as president and CEO of US commercial operations at Brookfield, starting the end of this month. He’ll report to Ric Clark, Brookfield president and CEO.
“It is never an easy decision to leave a place as special as CBRE, but I was presented with a rare and exciting opportunity by Ric Clark and Brookfield Office Properties and I felt the time was right to take on new responsibilities and challenges in development,” Rudin said in a prepared statement. “I have always taken extraordinary pride in what we have built at CBRE: the number one company in our market and in the world, but also a place of professionalism and integrity where we’d want our children to work.”
CBRE executive managing director Matt Van Buren will fill Rudin’s spot on an interim basis and Cherrie Nanninga, COO of the NY tri-state region, will also take on expanded management responsibilities to fill the gap.
Rudin’s appointment at Brookfield was in addition to several promotions announced by the company, whose stable of office properties includes the World Financial Center. These were: Dennis Friedrich, to president and global CIO; Tom Farley to president and global COO; and Jan Sucharda to president and CEO of Canadian commercial operations. “In recognition of the company's global expansion and of outstanding work, I am pleased to announce these management changes as part of our ongoing executive planning, development and advancement efforts,” Clark said in a prepared statement.
Rudin was not available for comment outside of the release provided by CBRE and a spokesperson for Brookfield did not return calls in time for publication.
