WOODBRIDGE, NJ-First quarter leasing was on a tear, according to Onyx Equities, LLC, which saw 37,517 square feet signed in its New Jersey portfolio for the three months.

The deals covered new leases, expansions and renewals, with interest growing in the Meadowlands area, the waterfront and Central New Jersey, says Michael K. Nevins, VP of asset management, Onyx Equities, LLC

"These transactions illustrate the strength of the Onyx brand and our preeminent reputation in the New Jersey market as owners and operators of well-maintained, well-located properties throughout New Jersey," Nevins said.

 The 577,000-square foot Meadows Office Complex at 301 Route 17 North within the Meadowlands area saw JA Apparel renew a lease for 4,465 square feet, less space than its previous lease; a new deal for 2,465 square feet by Overhead Services; a renewal and expansion totaling nearly 2,800 square feet by Creative Interiors Plus, LLC, and a 2,329-square-foot expansion by Newmark Knight Frank. Rents in the complex are around $29 per square foot, according to LoopNet.

At the waterfront-situated 30 Montgomery Street in Jersey City, McAdam Financial group took 5,756 square feet in a new lease, with Crane Partners Asset Management singing a new 1,687 square foot deal. Specialty Rondot renewed its 3,196-square-foot space on the second floor. Chiron Business Solutions renewed 962 square feet and signed for an expansion space of 2,115 square feet.  The building is 292,178 square feet in 15 stories. The building was completed in 1976, and some asking rents are in the $25 per square foot range, according to real estate web sites.

At the Edison Square Office Complex, a 165,910-square foot, two-building complex in Edison, Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. renewed its 8,662-square foot lease for three years. Friendwell Management Group signed a seven-and-a-half year expansion deal for 3,084-square-foot of second-floor space. Asking rents for some buildings in the complex are about $24 per square foot, according to LoopNet.
