SAN FRANCISCO-The Board of Supervisors have voted in favor of the Treasure Island development. The redevelopment project will include 8,000 homes, skyscrapers reaching up to 450 feet and 140,000 square feet of retail space.

The project will come up on the 400-acre site of former Navy base situated in San Francisco Bay. It will have a new neighborhood with shops, school, parks and ferry terminal. Next week, the board will take a second vote on the project. For the full story, go to San Jose Mercury .
