CHICAGO-Noted architect Lucien Lagrange, known for many of the local and national landmark buildings, is closing up his namesake shop after filing for bankruptcy spurred by a divorce. He has joined the local office of architectural design company VOA Associates Inc. as a lead designer, and will be leasing space from the firm.
The French-born Lagrange, 70, started as an architect at the locally based Skidmore, Owings and Merrill firm, and left while as a senior designer in 1985 to start his own firm, Lucien Lagrange Architects Inc. His offices at 605 N. Michigan Ave. were formerly a bustle of design activity, as Lagrange designed such Chicago properties as the Elysian Hotel Chicago, 208 S. LaSalle, the Park Tower and the Hard Rock Caf
