WASHINGTON, DC-The near freeze in government spending has had an impact in the DC area. However not all such activity has completely ceased. US Customs and Border Protection has signed a long-term lease for 96,000 square feet at Sentinel Square I/90 K St., NE in NoMa. In fact, "this is the second group within Customs and Border Protection that will occupy our Sentinel Square I project," Thomas Finan, a managing director with Trammell Crow Co.’s Mid-Atlantic office who represented the landlord/owner in the transaction, said in a prepared statement.

In 2010, US Customs and Border Protection took 85,000 square feet on the fourth and fifth floors and a portion of sixth floor in the same building. Now the agency occupies 181,000-square feet in the 12-story, 412,661-square foot office building. Lisa Richmond and Marcia Parkes of GSA and Todd Valentine and Emmett Miller of Studley represented the tenant in the transaction.

Another recent government lease inked in the area was the National Park Service’s 10-year lease for 51,630 square feet in the Washington Commerce Center located at 3300 Hubbard Rd., in Landover, MD. Also, the Treasury Department recently renewed 52,028-square feet at 1750 Pennsylvania Ave., NW for 10 years.
