GAINESVILLE, VA-Buchanan Partners is planning a new grocery-anchored retail center at the corner of Heathcote Boulevard and Catharpin Road as part of its Heritage Hunt mixed-use development here. The project is the latest development for Buchanan at the 100-acre community, following the recent opening of the newly constructed 46,000-square-foot Sport & Health facility.
"With marked acceleration in activity from both a sale/lease and development perspective this year, we feel confident in the long term success” of Heritage Hunt, said Matt Pierce, senior manager at Buchanan Partners, in a prepared statement. Buchanan did not return a call to GlobeSt.com in time for publication.
The 90,000-square-foot retail center will be located adjacent to a group of town homes that are under development by Ryan Homes. To date, 40 homes have sold, with another 20 under construction. All together 315 are slated for development. The presence of a nearby grocery store is expected to spur sales even further.
Buchanan also plans to break ground on a new 50,000-square-foot office building in 2012. The developer recently sold an 11,000-square-foot office condo in the Heritage Hunt Professional Building to Professional Automotive Relocation Services, bringing the building’s occupancy to 92%. Year to date, there have been 11 office lease and sales transactions.
More than 200,000 square feet of office space has delivered so far at Heritage Park. The development is approved for a total of one million square feet.
