GALVESTON, TX-The Jean Lafitte Hotel situated in downtown Galveston will be transformed into an 85-unit apartment complex. The ITEX Group, a real estate investment firm based in Port Arthur, has started a $12.5-million renovation to convert the 1920s-era building into apartment complex.
The new complex will be called the 2101 Church Street Apartments. ITEX purchased the vacant hotel in 2009 from Tracy Suttles. Construction is expected to be finished in 12 to 14 months. For the full story, go to Houston Business Journal .
