(Mark Your Calendars: RealShare APARTMENTS East, February 15 in Washington DC)

WASHINGTON, DC-Industry experts in the multifamily sector will gather at the RealShare APARTMENTS East conference this Wednesday, February 15th. Registration for the half-day event will begin at 7:30 am with opening remarks starting at 8:15 am. The conference will be heavily attended, conference producer Kim Last tells GlobeSt.com. “We have about 350 people attending,” she says. The subject matter of the conference—multifamily on the East Coast—is, not surprisingly, one of intense interest these days, she adds. Panelists will be going beyond the “multifamily is very active right now” meme, though, Last says. “Listening to the panelists discuss the issues in their preparation calls I can tell you there will be a lot digging under the trends to see what really works and what doesn’t right now.”

After opening remarks, the first panel discussion will focus on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Mike McRoberts, managing director of Prudential Mortgage Capital Co.’s Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lending business is moderating the panel, which will consist of Manny Menendez, vice president - head of Multifamily Customer Engagement at Fannie Mae and Tom Hamill, managing director at Freddie Mac.

Other panels will focus on the investment outlook for the East Coast, multifamily brokers and what they are finding is necessary to close the deals and capital markets financing issues. The event will cap off, after lunch, with a panel of some of the top multifamily investors and developers in the area, including Toby Bozzuto, president of Bozzuto Development Co.; Scott Anderson, senior director and head of Multifamily Asset Management for TIAA-CREF Global Real Estate; Scott Bassin, executive vice president and head of Multifamily at PNC Real Estate; and Bob Knakal, chairman of Massey Knakal.
