LOWELL, MA-University of Massachusetts at Lowell will start construction on a $54-million dorm for students. The 148,000-square-foot residence hall, called University Suites, will comprise four- and six-bed units, study rooms, kitchen/lounge areas and an outdoor courtyard.

University Suites will strive to achieve LEED Silver certification. The new residence hall will house 472 students. It is expected to be opened late next year.
