MINNEAPOLIS-AmericaInn, a subsidiary of locally based Northcott Hospitality, is launching a $75 million upgrade program to its 260 properties. Paul Kirwin, CEO, also tells GlobeSt.com that the firm will open 10 new hotels this year, mostly in the Midwest.

The company has had a good start to the year, after opening seven hotels in 2011, Kirwin says. The mid-scale hotel firm has made a goal of increasing revenue by 6%, and already exceeded that goal in the first quarter, he says.
