COLUMBIA, MD-The Howard Hughes Corp. is planning to start construction on an apartment and retail complex in Columbia. The $100-million project, named The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia, will comprise 380 apartments, 14,000 square feet of retail space and parking lot with 675 to 750 spaces.

Howard is building the complex in a joint venture with Orchard Development of Ellicott City and Kettler of McLean, Virginia. The development team has plans to start construction early next year and open the complex in spring 2014. For the full story, go to Baltimore Sun .
