BIRMINGHAM, AL-The developer of the $50-million Westin Hotel beside the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex may renew a proposal to transform the old Regions Plaza structure in downtown Birmingham into a hotel. The Birmingham News reported that Bob Schwartz and Jeffrey Taylor from Atlanta-based National Ventures Group have proposed a plan to construct a $30-million hotel for business travelers.

Initial plans call for the conversion of nine floors in the 18-story building into a hotel, with the upper floors housing retail and office tenants. For the full story, go to Birmingham Business Journal .
