MIAMI—The Gap will soon occupy a new flagship retail store on South Beach. The clothier just inked a long-term 20,000 square foot lease that makes possible new construction at 1001 Lincoln Rd.

Ungar-Marshall Co. will build a new ground-up store at the site of Gap’s existing store on the corner of Lincoln Road and Michigan Avenue in Miami Beach's shopping district. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“It is very unique to be able to develop a new contemporary building in a very historic district,” says Michael Comras, president of Comras Co. His firm worked closely with the City of Miami Beach’s Historic Preservation Board to get the deal through.
