LOS ANGELES-GlobeSt.com has exclusively learned that Jones Lang LaSalle has hired Phil Friedl as a senior vice president, expanding the firm’s project and development services capabilities in Los Angeles. In this role, Friedl will oversee project delivery and client relationships in the market.

In addition, Friedl will also be responsible for leading the L.A. team as well as handling the procurement and processes of complex developments.

Friedl tells GlobeSt.com that he was attracted to the position “because of the opportunity to lead a team of the best project management professionals in the business and the JLL reputation for professionalism, integrity and client service.” He points out that in addition focusing on the client relationship for the WPP and Dunbar Village projects, he will be providing senior oversight for all project and development services projects in the LA market.

“We see client demand for project management services growing in Los Angeles, and Phil has the experience and skills to manage the projects of public and private facility owners and real estate investors,” says Judy Caruthers, executive vice president of the firm’s project and development services group in the Southwest region.

Caruthers tells GlobeSt.com that JLL anticipates one or two additional project and development services group hires in L.A. this year. “We have added six project managers to the L.A. product and development teams, including Phil, to date this year. Additionally we have expanded our PDS presence in Hawaii and Las Vegas this year. We anticipate additional PDS growth in LA and the rest of the SW region next year.”

Prior to joining JLL, Friedl was principal and owner of FriedlUrbanFocus LLC where he provided project management, construction management and development services to developers and private equity investors. Prior to forming this company, he was a VP of development with CIM Group where he managed multiple projects through the various stages of the development process, including Midtown Crossing, a 380,000-square-foot vertically stacked retail center in Los Angeles.

With 30 years in real estate and construction, Friedl has developed, built and managed a variety of asset classes and provided overall management control with an emphasis on maximizing asset value through repositioning, creative leasing, public/private financing, building performance and efficiency, and high-density site use.
