MARLTON, NJ – Hill International reports it has been selected as construction manager by Rising Sun International Real Estate Venture Investment LLC for its $1.4-billion Taipei City project now under construction in Chongqing, China.

The five-year contract with Rising Sun has an estimated value of $10 million and involves the first phase of the Rising Sun Taipei City project, according to Hill International officials. The development, which got underway several months ago in Xiyong, when completed will involve 11.7 million sf (1.09 million square meters) of built up area and will include a shopping mall, exhibition center, residences and other amenities.

“This development marks Hill's first major project management assignment in China,” said Abdo E. Kardous, senior vice president and managing director (Asia/Pacific) for Hill's Project Management Group. “We are proud to have been selected for this assignment and our team will work hard to ensure a successful project for our client.”

Among some of Hill International’s notable current projects in the Northeast include its management of the World Trade Center restoration for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; is managing the $93.5-million modernization of New York City Hall and is providing construction management services to CSX Transportation on its freight extension initiative in connection with the National Gateway initiative. Hill International has also been working on a contract with joint venture partner TranSystems Corp. on a host of projects through Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio since the contract was awarded in late 2010. The National Gateway is an $842-million, multi-state, public-private infrastructure initiative geared to creating a more efficient freight rail route between Mid-Atlantic ports and Midwestern markets.

Rising Sun International Real Estate Venture Investment manages a fund that invests primarily in Chinese real estate. The fund investments include land acquisition, project development, and the purchase of residential and commercial real estate. Hill International has 3,300 employees and 110 offices worldwide and is currently ranked as the eighth largest construction management firm in the United States by Engineering News-Record.
