MIAMI—Diageo, a multinational spirits, wine and beer company, has found a new home. The company is relocating its Miami office to Coral Gables in the fall of 2013. Diageo's lease at the Waterford at Blue Lagoon is ending, and the company has signed a 10year lease at the 396 Alhambra Circle.
Owned by Agave Holdings, the 32,527-square-foot office building has received LEED Silver and Gold certification. When Diageo builds out the space, it will have a design unique to Miami and provide a state of the art workplace.
“The new office is an important hub for not only Diageo North America, but also serves as the gateway to Latin America and our successful—and growing—business there,” commented Randy Millian, president of Diageo's Latin America and Caribbean. “We are excited to join the Coral Gables community.”
All Diageo employees based in Miami will be relocated to the new Coral Gables office. The Miami office supports Diageo's North America, Latin America and Caribbean regions as well as the Global Travel & Middle East and Diageo-Guinness USA business units.
“I don't think many people know that they were in the market,” Danet Linares, executive vice president at Blanca Commercial Real Estate, which represents 396 Alhambra, tells GlobeSt.com. “The hardest part of the deal was trying to keep it secret. It was such an exciting tenant for us to be able to capture. It just goes to show the quality of the building, the strong ownership, and the strategic location.”
396 Alhambra opened about a year ago and is already 65% leased. HBO Latin America leased three floors in the 15-story North Tower earlier this year. Other tenants include Millicom, Terra Networks, Citibank, and the law offices of Richman Greer.
“We've seen some great momentum in 2012. Millicom. We have three multinational companies now,” Linares says. “We are negotiating leases for another 30,000 square feet. We also have a list of other prospects that are in the market and looking at 396 Alhambra. We see the first quarter being very strong as well.”
