In Paris, AXA Real Estate Investment Managers has appointed Deborah Shire as global head of business development. It's a new position, which carries overall responsibility for corporate finance, investor relations, marketing and communications and business development. Moving into the newly created position of global president of transaction services at CBRE Group Inc. is Jack Durburg. A member of the Los Angeles-based firm since 2001, he will work to further CBRE's position in leasing, capital markets and transaction management services globally across all property types. Since 2011, Durburg, who also becomes a member of the Global Operating Committee, has been president of the company's Central Division, encompassing more than 25 offices in nine states.
In Detroit, Jeffrey Shell has joined CBRE as an executive vice president of capital markets. He comes from Grubb & Ellis, and will be joined by his team: Anne Rahm, Amie Sweeney and Molly Copeland. CBRE has also wooed industry veteran David Pace in a move to reinforce its Land Services Group in Orlando. Pace is on board as executive vice president of the group, focusing on consulting and transactional services involving large, complex, mixed-use, and often stressed, development projects. Before joining CBRE, Pace was managing director for Pritzker Realty Group's redevelopment of the 1,100-acre former Orlando Naval Training Center property.
The Falls Church, VA-based alliance of entrepreneurial and privately held commercial real estate firms has announced its 2012 executive officers. At the helm as president is Douglas Marshall, with the Klabin Co. in Los Angeles. Born in Toronto, he's the organization's first foreign-born president since its inception in 1989. The rest of the executive team includes vice president Bill Hawkins, Chas Hawkins Co. Inc.; treasurer Robert Tillsley, McBride Corporate Real Estate; and secretary Scott Savacool, the Sansone Group. CORFAC's new executive director, meanwhile, is Susan S. Newman, who was previously the secretary general/CEO of the US Chapter of the International Real Estate Federation.
The new senior managing director of real estate for multifamily management firm Greystar is Ray Hutchinson. Based in Atlanta, he'll oversee the firm's property management operations throughout the Southeast, including Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, the Carolinas and Kentucky. Greystar hopes to increase its number of apartment units under management in the Southeast to 60,000 within five years. Previously, Hutchinson was principal and co-founder of Allegiant Residential in Birmingham, AL.
Matt Jones has been promoted to managing director for Harbor Group International. Working from Harbor's Baltimore office, Jones will focus on investments and acquisitions of multifamily assets throughout the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic regions. During his 10 years with the firm, Jones has sourced and closed nearly $900 million in multifamily investment opportunities.
Thirty-year veteran Seattle broker Peter Truex has joined Jones Lang LaSalle as a senior vice president in the tenant representation group here. Truex spent more than seven years at Colliers International and most recently ran the firm's Seattle office.
The New York City-based community bank has hired George N. Jarvis as senior marketing officer. A banker for over 30 years, he's charged with identifying and targeting middle-market companies in the tri-state area to expand the firm's client base. Jarvis was previously executive vice president and co-director of the Commercial Group of Amalgamated Bank. He's also held senior positions at North Fork Bank, Atlantic Bank of New York and Chase Manhattan Bank, and spent 21 years in the Middle Market Lending Group of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co.
Industry veteran Kevin Schmitt has joined Partner Engineering and Science Inc. as technical director, building sciences in the environmental due diligence firm's investment advisory group. He previously established and managed the Northeast regional office of Marx/ Okubo Associates in Farmington, CT. Schmitt is based in Partner Engineering's New York City office.
In Irvine, CA, Sperry Van Ness International has appointed Shari Tucker-Gasser as national director of retail properties. Tucker-Gasser will serve as a liaison for the company's retail affiliates, covering 145 markets nationally, providing leadership, guidance and strengthening the retail capabilities of the franchise.
Mark Lanspa has opened a new office in New York City for Wells Fargo as a newly hired executive vice president in the Hospitality Finance Group. A 25-year veteran of commercial real estate finance, Lanspa comes to Wells Fargo from Credit Suisse, where he was a managing director.
