NEW YORK CITY-A joint venture of Trevcon Construction and Skanska has been awarded a $181-millon contract to build the East 91st Street Marine Transfer Station.

The contract awarded by the New York City Department of Design and Construction is on behalf of the New York City Department of Sanitation. Skanska reports in a release distributed on Business Wire that the work will involve the demolition of the existing facility and access ramp, and the construction of a new approximately 8,000 square-meter facility and the reconstruction of a new access ramp.

Work on the project began last month and is expected to be completed by March 2016. Skanska will include its full contract amount—$146 million—in the order bookings for New York City-based Skanska USA Civil, or the fourth quarter 2012. Trevcon Construction is based in Liberty Corner, NJ.
