ATLANTIC CITY, NJ-The Resorts Casino plans to spend $60 million to rebrand itself as a singer Jimmy Buffet-styled “Margaritaville” entertainment destination, according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The casino, which like other resorts along the Boardwalk, took a major hit from Hurricane Sandy. Renovations underway at Resorts include $35 million to convert the facility into a Jimmy Buffet themed resort and another $25 million in renovations to hotel rooms. The newspaper reports it will also re-carpet the entire casino floor, make upgrades to 259 bathrooms at the Ocean Tower, add a food court, make improvements to the parking garage and entrance onto the main floor from the parking garage. Two new VIP player clubs will debut next week.
The casino has scheduled a “big reveal” of its capital improvements for Memorial Day. See story in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
