TRENTON, NJ-In his annual State-of-the-State address, Gov. Chris Christie said he would devote the final year of his first term to rebuilding areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

In a 42-minute speech, he warned New Jersey residents that there is considerable work ahead. “The New Jersey comeback has begun,” he said. Unlike last year, Christie did not call for a 10% income tax cut. However, he reiterated his hope that Congress would pass the remainder of the $60.4-billion Sandy relief package that is expected to be voted on in the House of Representatives next week.

According to a report in the Star-Ledger, Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver, a Democrat from Essex County, criticized the governor for failing to discuss how state revenues continue to fall short of projections and how foreclosures rates in the Garden State remain one of the highest in the nation.
