CHICAGO-Mayor Rahm Emanuel has appointed seven business, government, labor and civic leaders to a panel that will explore the possible privatization of Midway Airport.
The mayor named two urban planning specialists, a parking executive who donated to Emanuel's election campaign and is a close friend of President Barack Obama, two key alderman, a labor leader and one former alderman, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The panel will be chaired by Peter Skosey, executive vice president of the Metropolitan Planning Council with James Connolly of he Chicago Laborers District Council serving as vice chairman of the committee.
The city of Chicago is expected to issue a request for qualifications for firms that might be interested in the privatization venture later this month. See story in the Chicago Tribune.
