EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ-Despite statements from some state officials that construction at the American Dream Meadowlands project might begin later this month, the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority still must vote on the revised plan.
The Board of Commissioners was not expected to vote last night on a revised master plan for the project proposed by Triple Five, the operators the Mall of America in Minnesota, to add a 638,000-sf indoor amusement and water park to the as yet uncompleted 2.3 million-sf complex located alongside the Izod Center in the Meadowlands Sports complex, according to a report in The Record.
Although the Board of Commissioners agenda did not have the project listed among the items for discussion, the agenda did include a resolution for the board to conduct an executive session.
Jon F. Hanson, an adviser to Gov. Chris Christie told the newspaper Wednesday that a number of details must be addressed before agreements can be finalized. The prospective developer of the project is trying to finalize nearly $2 billion in additional financing for the project after two previous developers spent $2 billion to get the planned entertainment and retail complex operational.
