BALTIMORE-The Maryland Court of Appeals has ruled that the mixed-use 25h Street Station redevelopment project, which includes a new Walmart, can move forward.

Maryland's highest court ruled unanimously that two residents who live near the development site do not have the right to appeal the Baltimore City Council's zoning approval for the project, according to the Baltimore Sun.

The original plan that emerged about three years ago called for the redevelopment of about 11 acres of land that is now mostly occupied by Anderson Automotive Group with a new Walmart and a Lowe's Home Improvement store. Lowe's backed out of the project in 2011. The development in the Remington section of Baltimore would also include 100,000 sf of additional retail, 70 to 90 units of housing and more than 1,000 parking spaces.

The project site is located bounded by Maryland Avenue on the east, West 25th Street and Huntington Avenue on the north, West 24th Street to the south and railroad tracks on the west. Anderson Automotive Group now occupies most of the land. A n attorney for the developer, WV Urban Developments LLC, says the firm will now seek to obtain permits and financing for the project.
