NEW YORK CITY-After the City Planning Commission gave its stamp of approval earlier this week on a proposal to rezone Hudson Square to allow for more mixed use, the measure will now be in the hands of the City Council.

The Planning Commission approved a measure that would allow the Hudson Square neighborhood to feature more mixed-use projects with larger buildings, according to The Real Deal.

Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer gave conditional support for the measure last November based on concessions given from Trinity Real Estate, which had proposed the zoning measure. Trinity is seeking to build new apartments in the area that has been chiefly commercial. Stringer reduced the building height to 290 feet. Trinity had originally proposed a 320-foot height limit.
