WASHINGTON, DC-The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is expected to vote on Thursday on a plan to use 78 acres it owns at Greenbelt station as a carrot for a new FBI headquarters in Prince George's County, MD.
If approved, the property could provide a boost to Prince George's bid to lure the agency from its longtime headquarters at the J. Edgar Hoover Building on Pennsylvania Avenue NW, according to the Washington Post.
Metro would amend an existing development agreement with Renard allowing the developer or Prince George's to submit the site for consideration by the FBI. Responses to the General Services Administration's search are due March 4.
The Metro board has amended a previous agreement with Renard that gives the firm until March 1, 2014 to persuade the GSA to move the FBI to the Greenbelt station area. The developer would then pay fair market value for the property. See story in the Washington Post.
