MORROW, GA-Redevelopment plans for Clayton State University here that were scrapped due to the recession are being dusted off and revised.
Original proposals called for a conference center, hotel, golf course and townhomes, however, development officials are now pitching for “University Station” to be a mixture of offices, parks, retail and lodging. Clayton County officials were expected to introduce the concept this morning at the South Metro Development Outlook conference at the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta.
The county and cities of Morrow and Lake City will market about 10 acres to developers, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. Officials want an 80-room hotel, a three-story office building, refurbishments to a county-owned film sound stage, about 100,000 square feet of retail space and approximately $75 million in private investment.
Residential space and senior living facilities could be added later. See story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
