KAUAI— Four hand-carved, solid koa wood doors valued at $50,000 each were stolen last weekend from the historic Coco Palms resort on Kauai, which has been closed for more than 20 years.
Pacific Business News reports that the eight-foot tall doors weighing between 200 and 300 pounds each were taken after thieves allegedly cut a large hole in the fence around the property and smashed a wall in the hotel's former banquet hall.
Authorities are asking people to monitor online sites such as eBay and Craigslist to see if anyone posts the doors for sale.
Meanwhile, a hearing is scheduled next month to determine whether the Coco Palms may be redeveloped.
