NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ-Rutgers University officials say that the university needs at least $425 million from the State of New Jersey to fund renovation and construction projects at all three of its campuses.

Dan Schulman, head of the Rutgers governing board's finance and facilities committee, says the university hopes to get at least $425 million from the state for the projects that have been estimated to cost $634 million to complete.

The Rutgers governing board approved a number of construction and renovation projects on Thursday, including new science buildings in Piscataway, Newark and Camden.

Rutgers officials also announced on Thursday that the university, which is in the midst of merging with the state's medical university, is looking to combine its two law schools in Camden and Newark. See story in The Record.
