JERSEY CITY, NJ-The Newark-based legal firm Genova, Burns, Giantomasi & Webster is opening a new office in Jersey City at 30 Montgomery St.
The law firm likes Jersey City's “sixth borough” proximity to New York City, according to managing partner Brian Kronick. Jersey City officials have long touted the fact that the PATH train connection from Jersey City to downtown Manhattan is quicker than the commute from other parts of New York City.
Kronick said Jersey City's location makes it easier to recruit young attorneys who live in New York or the Hoboken-Jersey City area. Eugene Paolino, has joined Genova Burns as a partner, coming from the Jersey City law firm of Schumann Hanlon. Jersey City attorney George Garcia also recently joined the firm. They will be part of a 10-attorney group in the new office, some of whom will move from other Genova Burns offices.
Besides Newark, the firm has offices in Red Bank and Camden, in addition to New York and Philadelphia.
As with Camden's proximity to Philadelphia, the Jersey City connection to Manhattan “ meets with our mission of being the firm to go to if you want connections between New York and Philadelphia,” Kronick said.
The Genova Burns firm has 80 attorneys, including 21 partners. Its practices include labor, employment litigation, real estate, land use, transactions, complex litigation, and energy and utilities.
Kronick said the firm sees growth opportunities in both its real estate and new energy/utilities specialty.
