Winick Branches Out to LI

LONG ISLAND-Having set its gaze westward four months ago, Winick Realty Group is now looking east. The New York City-based retail services firm, which in late 2012 opened a New Jersey office, on Monday announced the formation of a new division that is being led by industry veteran Noel Caban.

Winick's Long Island division will focus on property investment and retail leasing on behalf of both landlords and tenants in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, as well as areas in Queens. Caban will also work with Winick to help solidify the company's position in all of the outer boroughs. For the moment, he'll be based out of Winick's Midtown Manhattan offices; a physical presence on the island is in the near future.

Caban is returning to Winick as the latest iteration of a retail brokerage career spanning a decade. Most recently, he served as VP at CBRE, servicing the retail business requirements of clients including Bank of America, 7-Eleven, McDonalds, Ford Motor Co., Time Warner Cable and Tesla Motors. He has also worked with owners and developers that include Kimco Realty, Millbrook Properties, Forest City Ratner Cos. and Muss Development.

“Winick Realty Group is a regional market force in the New York and New Jersey markets, and I am proud to be re-joining the company as head of the Long Island retail division,” Caban says in a statement. “The Long Island market is eight million strong, encompassing some of the most affluent demographics with highest levels of disposable income. With Winick Realty Group's retail heritage and market presence, it will be a win-win combination for both the tenants and landlords we will service in these markets.” He adds that he looks forward to strengthening Winick's relationships in Nassau and Suffolk, while introducing the firm's brand of retail service to a new customer base.

Pursuant to growing that customer base, Winick last month secured exclusive leasing representation for Chipotle Mexican Grill in its territory. The fast-casual chain currently runs to more than 60 locations throughout Northern New Jersey, Long Island and all five boroughs of New York City.
