NEW YORK CITY-The Chetrit Group and partners are in contract to purchase the shuttered Cabrini Medical Center here for more than $150 million.
The deal, originally reported in the Wall Street Journal, is for the 1.5-acre site on Second Avenue and East 19th St. currently owned by Memorial Sloan Kettering.
SKI Realty, an affiliate of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, paid $83.1 million for the Cabrini property in 2010 and had plans to build an ambulatory care and bone marrow and stem cell transplantation facilities at the property. However, it later opted to expand its facilities uptown. Cabrini Medical Center closed its doors in 2008. See story in the Commercial Observer.
