NEW YORK CITY-Nineteen 2012 transactions will be in contention for one of this year's Most Ingenious Deal of the Year Awards as presented by the Real Estate Board of New York. The winners of the first-place Henry Hart Rice, second-place Robert T. Lawrence and third-place Edward S. Gordon awards will be announced at REBNY's annual cocktail party of the Sales Brokers Committee, scheduled for April 23.

“REBNY received 19 very interesting submissions for this year's Most Ingenious Deal of the Year awards, which is a significant increase in submissions” compared to past years, says Steven Spinola, REBNY president, in a release. “As the number of submissions grows, the brokers continue to raise the bar for the competition. This year's deals reflect the highest caliber of transaction within the commercial real estate market, and we are pleased to distinguish those who have put in the time and effort.”

The nominees for this year's awards, in the categories of finance, leasing and sales, are listed below. For sales, they're: Ira Schuman, Daniel O. Horowitz and David Carlos of Studley Inc. for 20 East End Ave.; Helen Hwang and Nat Rockett of Cushman & Wakefield for 88 Leonard St.; Mary Ann Tighe and Gregory Tosko of CBRE for 3 Columbus Circle; Christopher Owles of Sinvin Realty for 144 Spring St.; and Alan S. Cohen and Gregg L. Schenker of ABS Partners Real Estate for 525 Broadway.

In the leasing category, the nominees are: Bill Harvey and Daniel Segal at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank for the New York Genome Center at 101 Ave. of the Americas; an NKGF team of Moshe Sukenik, Barry Gosin and Chris Mongeluzo for Chadbourne & Parke's lease at 1301 Ave. of the Americas; Mitchell Konsker, Paul Glickman and Matthew Astrachan of Jones Lang LaSalle for 11 Times Square; NGKF's David Falk and Kyle Ciminelli for 33 Beekman St.; NGKF's Falk, Jason Greenstein and Frank Kajon for Havas' deal at 200 and 205 Hudson St. and 200 Madison Ave.; One New York Plaza, NYC; Gosin and his NGKF colleagues Brian S. Waterman and Romel Canete for the Morgan Stanley lease at One New York Plaza; Duncan McCuaig for providing in-house representation of owner Brookfield Office Properties in the same Morgan Stanley deal; the

Viacom renewal at 1515 Broadway, arranged by Michael Laginestra, Scott Gottlieb and Andrew Sussman of CBRE; and CBRE's Ben Friedland and Silvio Petriello for what's described as a game of musical chairs among various tenants at 7 Times Square.

In the finance category, the nominees are: Evan Pariser of HFF for 837 Washington St.; Scott Singer and Jeffrey Moroch of the Singer & Bassuk Organization for their work on 50 Oceana Dr. West; HFF's Whitney Wilcox and Michael Tepedino for 1515 Broadway; Shawn Rosenthal of the Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group for 452 Fifth Ave.; and Chris Lama at NY Urban for 542-580 Second Ave. Winners in all three categories will be judged on ingenuity, creativity and professional skill.
