EDISON, NJ-Gov. Chris Christie told a group of real estate executives that he supports legislation that would modify and simplify state business tax incentive programs.
The governor, during an address at the NAIOP New Jersey's annual public policy meeting at the Edison Sheraton, said he backed legislation sponsored by Sen. Raymond Lesniak, of Union and Assemblyman Albert Coutinho of Newark that would broaden the qualifications for companies to receive Economic Recovery Growth Plan (ERGP) and Grow New Jersey grants, according to the Star Ledger.
The proposals would consolidate the five major tax incentive programs to just two, and would give central and south Jersey a better shot securing funding, Assemblyman Coutinho said. The legislation could come before Senate and Assembly committees next week. See story in The Record.
