PHILADELPHIA-The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is exploring the possible sale or lease of 45 acres at its St. Charles Borromeo Seminary campus in Lower Merion.

The decision announced Thursday by archdiocese officials involves consolidating current operations at the campus to other buildings on about 30 acres located toward the back end of the property, according to The Inquirer.

Last year, Eastern University relocated its Palmer Theological Seminary from the southwest corner of that intersection to much smaller leased space in King of Prussia. The archdiocese notes that in the next three to five years, the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary will vacate the circa 1928 building. See story in The Inquirer.
