RALEIGH, NC-North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory announced on Thursday that MetLife, Inc. will open two new campus in Cary and Charlotte that will create 2,600 jobs in the state.

The insurer is eligible to receive an economic development package worth more than $90 million, according to the Triangle Business Journal.

MetLife will be establishing a new global technology and operations campus in Cary but has not finalized a real estate deal with a property owner in Cary as yet, says Sandy Jordan, vice president for economic development at Cary Chamber of Commerce. Wake County Commissioners could be voting on an agreement with MetLife at its April 1 meeting that could qualify the company for a 2.25% reduction in county taxes.

The (Newark, NJ) Star Ledger reports that in connection with the North Carolina move the company is set to close a facility in the Somerset section of Franklin Township, NJ. The closing is part of a larger plan to consolidate 2,600 jobs across the country at the two new sites in North Carolina. See story in the Triangle Business Journal.
