ST. PAUL, MN-The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe is scheduled to announce on Monday its purchase of two hotels in downtown St. Paul.
Mille Lacs Band leaders have scheduled a press conference on Monday to announce the closings of the purchases, according to the Star-Tribune. Officials are not confirming the identity of the two hotels being traded. The newspaper reports that the Ojibwe band is believed to have purchased the DoubleTree by Hilton and the Crowne Plaza Riverfront Hotel.
The hotel purchases are said to represent a move to diversify the tribal economy from just strictly gambling. See story in the Star-Tribune.
