ORLANDO-The much-delayed $665-million Orlando VA Medical Center is expected to be completed by April 2014.

The project completion date was revealed by Brasfield & Gorrie, the main contractor for the project, at a briefing on Monday with U.S. Reps. John Mica of Winter Park, and Corrine Brown of Jacksonville.

Officials involved in the development expect the medial center to open in phases later this year and into 2014. The project has been plagued by delays that have caused issues between the contractor and the federal government. Recently, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs issued a show cause notice on the project. See story in the Orlando Business Journal.
