JERSEY CITY, NJ-A host of city officials were on hand yesterday for the ceremonial groundbreaking of a $180-million residential tower on First Street here.

Lloyd Goldman, the developer of 110 First St., began construction on the 35-story project a few weeks ago. The 375-foot tower will feature more than 350 rental units and 15,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. The project is expected to be completed in two years.

Goldman says the imminent completion of the new World Trade Center tower across the Hudson River gives him confidence about the demand for a new residential tower in downtown Jersey City.

"Those workers need housing and this is the ideal location," he says. See story in The Jersey Journal.
