DALLAS-Seattle's Best Coffee, a brand within the Starbucks Corp. family, announced it will open 15 new locations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2013. The company opened its first drive-through locations in Seattle last fall, and has earmarked the DFW area for 14 company-owned and operated stores, and one franchised location.
A spokeswoman for the company tells GlobeSt.com via email that DFW became a target city thanks to a US Census Bureau survey indicating that the area is one of the fastest-growing in the nation. Furthermore, the area beats the national average when it comes to eating out. "As such, Seattle's Best Coffee pegged the Dallas-Fort Worth market as a prime location for expansion, to reach new customers who are in need of a coffee that fits their lifestyles," the spokeswoman says.
A press release detailing the expansion plan points out that the drive-through retail locations will offer "dashboard-friendly" food and drink choices, including coffee and dessert coffee drinks, egg sandwiches and pretzel melts and handheld "Anytime Pies." The release also notes that the drive-through expansion builds on "positive consumer response in the region to the brand's packaged coffee, found in the grocery aisle." The physical location will have a small footprint, geared as it is toward customers interested in getting their coffee while driving.
The spokeswoman was not specific regarding where, specifically, in the metroplex the drive-through locations would be, only to say they would " land in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this spring at roadside locations near main commuter arteries." More expansion information will be released later this year, she adds.
