BATON ROUGE, LA-The Baton Rouge Business Report says that the Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors recently approved a ground lease for a site on which the university's foundation will build a new, $20 million headquarters at Nicholson and Skip Bertman Drives. The board also approved a master plan for the mixed-use Nicholson Gateway, located adjacent to where the LSU Foundation plans to build its headquarters.
The article goes on to quote Steve Waller, director of LSU's Department of Residential Life in saying that a university steering committee is examining options as to how to proceed on Nicholson Gateway, which will be located on Nicholson Drive between West Chimes Street and Skip Bertman Drive. These options include:
- LSU develops 100% of the project
- LSU partners with a private developer
- LSU Foundation or a nonprofit created for the purpose partners with a private developer
- LSU turns 100% of the development to an outside entity
"I think we're in the middle, with a partnership," says Waller, in the article.
