CHICAGO-The Illinois Medical District Commission has issued new request for proposals for a vacant nearly 10-acre parcel in the Chicago Technology Park for a possible hotel-retail development.

A plan for the site at Ogden and Damen avenues by Chicago-based HSA Commercial, which called for a 200,000-square-foot project, failed to materialize once the recession took hold, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

Records show a pre-bid conference on March 11 with the district was attended by 16 people, including developer Jack Higgins, chairman and CEO of Chicago-based Higgins Development Partners LLC; Michael Toolis, chairman and CEO of Chicago-based architectural firm VOA Associates Inc.; and developer Patrick Daly, chairman and CEO of Chicago-based Daly Group LLC. Others who attended the conference were: representatives of New York-based Lend Lease Construction Inc., Chicago-based Walsh Group Ltd. and Schaumburg-based Power Construction Co. Executives with Indianapolis-based Duke Realty Corp., Chicago-based U.S. Equities Realty LLC and HSA also attended. See story in Crain's Chicago Business.
