ARLINGTON, VA-In an attempt to upgrade the Ballston Common Mall here, Forest City Washington is hoping to secure approvals to add an apartment tower to the 579,000-square-foot mall.
The developer is also looking to add sidewalk retail at the property on Wilson Boulevard. The apartment tower would contain 306 residential units
Thomas W. Henneberry, chief operating officer of Forest City Washington, says he has begun discussing the future of the Ballston Common Mall with Arlington County officials but has yet to submit formal plans, according to the Washington Post.
The plan also includes upgrading or expanding some of the mall's main attractions, including the Kettler Capitals Iceplex where the NHL's Washington Capitals hold practices, a Regal movie theater and a Sport & Health Club. See story in the Washington Post.
