NEW YORK CITY-Tutor Perini Corp. says it has been awarded the construction contract to build the 47-story Hudson Yards South Tower.

The contract was awarded by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group. The South Tower, which will total 1.7 million square feet and be located at the northeast corner of 10th Avenue ad 30th Street, will be the future home of Coach, Inc.'s world headquarters. No contract value was released, although Tutor Perini stated in a prepared release that the contract value would be included as part of the company's first quarter backlog.

“We are pleased to be moving forward with construction of the South Tower at Hudson Yards, and we look forward to starting work later this year on the additional phases of this historic project, which will transform and vitalize midtown Manhattan's west side over the coming years,” states Craig Shaw, president and CEO of Tutor Perini Building Corp.

Construction commenced on the anticipated LEED Gold high-rise late last year and construction is expected to be completed sometime in 2015.

Hudson Yards, when fully built-out, will feature more than 13 million square feet, including over 6 million square feet of commercial space, approximately 5,000 residences, a new public school, and a luxury hotel. The venture is expected to create approximately 23,000 construction jobs.
