MIAMI-Two competing bidders for the multi-million dollar Miami Beach Convention Center presented their plans at a public hearing on Wednesday.

Their presentations offered Miami Beach residents more information on their respective proposals that could run as high as $1 billion to complete. However, neither team offered much in terms of minimizing traffic impacts in the area as well as how the public portion of the project would be financed, according to the Miami Herald.

The Tishman–South Beach ACE team has retained the Italian firm Mobility in Chain to study vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The Portman CMC team has hired David Plummer & Associates, a Coral Gables company, to analyze traffic issues in connection with its plan.

Few details emerged about how the city would pay for the public portions of the project that include a renovated convention center, additional meeting rooms and a new ballroom.

The Tishman and Portman teams have previously stated the public improvements could cost up to $500 million. See story in the Miami Herald.
