CHICAGO-The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board says it will deny a permit to Vista Health to build a $131-million hospital in Lindenhurst.

Courtney Avery, the administrator of the board, says Vista failed to meet the criteria for a new hospital, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The board unanimously denied Vista's plan on Wednesday, however, the company intends to continue its pursuit of approvals for the project.

Vista Health released a statement, which seems to indicate the project is far from dead. “We thank the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board for its feedback on our plans to build a hospital in Lindenhurst,” Vista Health officials stated in the letter. “We respect this process and intend to answer the board's questions to the best of our ability. It's not unusual for a proposal to establish a new hospital to receive additional recommendations and requests from the board. We look forward to presenting to the board again during a future meeting.” See story in the Chicago Tribune.
