CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD-It is the rare tract of industrial land that comes to market close to the District. This April 19th, though, that is exactly what will happen.
The Nicholls Auction Marketing Group plans to bring 73 acres of commercial acreage here to auction at 11 am that day. The property, located on Central Avenue, is very close to I-495 and FedEx Field.
The property consists of 4 individual tracts and will be sold as a whole. It is 73.305 acres, industrial zoned with 360 feet of road frontage on Central Avenue. There are also two buildings and one office trailer. The property's main building is approximately 3,300 square feet.
Industrial development may be rare this close in, but that may not be the case forever. At the start of the year, DC Mayor Vincent C. Gray and Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan R. McDuffie formed a 13-member task force and charged it with developing a strategic plan for the modernization and adaptive use of the industrial areas in Ward 5.
