HOLLYWOOD, FL-The developers of the planned Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort are expected to be asking the city for an additional 60 days at a hearing on Wednesday to complete a funding plan and take possession of the property before they begin construction.
Hollywood City Manager Cathy Swanson-Rivenbark announced on Monday that the developers--a joint venture of Margaritaville and the Lojeta Group--will not be able to make the April 10 deadline to begin construction on their hotel and restaurant complex, according to the Miami Herald.
Despite having previously granted the developers an extension this past September, Swanson-Rivenbark says the group has made “significant progress” on the project.
“We have been very clear about the deadline, but they have shown us how close they are to making this project happen,” she says noting that the developer called for the meeting before the April 10th deadline. “So we have told them they have to bring their case to the commission and it will be up to the commission to decide.”
The developer will appear before the Joint Special City Commission/CRA Board meeting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. See story in the Miami Herald.
