NEW YORK CITY-A Brooklyn judge on Monday halted all closure activity at Long Island College Hospital until a May 2nd court hearing.

The Monday ruling is the second restraining order that has prevented the State University of New York and SUNY Downstate Medical Center from shuttering the financially troubled Cobble Hill facility.

The latest restraining order was granted on the basis of a legal action filed last week by LICH doctors, the New York State Nurses Association and 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. The group charged that SUNY's decision to shut the hospital was "arbitrary and capricious." See story in Crain's New York Business.
